The 22-story Tribune Tower is Oakland’s most recognizable landmark. It’s housed a radio station and a newspaper, and today its neon facade celebrates our sports teams. And at 10 AM on Saturday, August 13, you can join its resident neon sculpter John Law on an exclusive two-hour tour of its clock tower. We’ll explore behind the clock faces, learn about the tower’s early plans for a Zeppelin landing port, and experience the value of preserving infrastructure for generations.
The size of this tour group will be limited by the capacity of one very old elevator, so we’re offering spots in two ways.
- Contribute $100 to Transport Oakland and receive a guaranteed ticket to the tour. Four tickets are available.
- Enter our raffle drawing for a chance to win one of four spots on the tour. The drawing will be held July 30, to be drawn by a special surprise guest. A $5 contribution receives one entry, a $20 contribution receives five entries, and there is no limit to the number of entries an individual can receive. Winners will be contacted by email, and don’t have to be present at the drawing to win.
