The City of Oakland is making this Bike Month one to remember with an unprecedented project implementation spree. The City unveiled its first parking-protected bike lanes Tuesday on Telegraph, and cut the ribbon yesterday on continuous bike lanes on Grand Avenue.
Let’s celebrate this historic month! Join Transport Oakland and our special guest, Piedmont council member Tim Rood, for a toast to Grand Avenue’s bike lanes on Thursday, May 26 at Grand Tavern.
A long-time supporter of bike lanes on Grand Avenue, Tim is also a principal at urban planning firm CD+A and a founding member of Piedmont Connect, an organization dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and active transportation in Piedmont. Tim’s support was integral in the complex collaboration required between the two cities to implement this worthy project.
Join us at Grand Tavern (3601 Grand Ave) Thursday, May 26 from 5:30-7:30 PM. We’ll claim a perch in the sun overlooking the newly minted bike lanes, and cheer on the city and its Piedmont collaborators for accomplishing an ambitious improvement on a critical route.
