Endorsement: Peggy Moore for At-Large

peggyPeggy Moore‘s deep understanding of Oakland government, her organizing experience, and her support for inclusive transportation planning make her the right choice to transform the At-Large position into a consensus-building leadership role that will help Oakland tackle its many challenges with state and federal partnerships. Transport Oakland is thrilled to support Peggy Moore, and is excited to see what she’ll get done in the coming years.

A long-time resident of Oakland, Peggy Moore has a long career of successfully running campaigns, from Political Director for Organizing for America during Obama’s 2012 re-election, to campaign manager for Mayor Libby Schaaf’s 2014 election, to director for Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president in California. She also recently served as the Senior Special Advisor to Mayor Schaaf.

Moore shares our policy priorities to improve the safety and attractiveness of transit, walking, and cycling across Oakland. She is a strong supporter of the Department of Transportation’s formation and champions its successful transition to a fully-fledged department as one of her platform priorities. She’s also committed to doing so in a way that promotes and maintains racial and economic diversity and inclusivity.

Moore also understands the complicated interplay between the City Council, City departments, and outside agencies – and how to repair and enhance those working relationships. Her long career in public service provides her with relationships at regional, state, and federal levels – which she will be able to leverage for the benefit of all Oaklanders.

Thanks to board member Christopher Kidd and volunteers Tamara Sherman and Amanda Leahy, for their great work in interviewing candidates and developing comprehensive endorsement recommendations.
