Tour 16th Street Station with Transport Oakland

16th Street Station

Join Transport Oakland for a very special guided tour of one of Oakland’s oldest and most beautiful transportation landmarks. 16th Street Station, built in 1912, was the entry point for thousands of arrivals via the First Transcontinental Railroad, and now stands as a memorial to the era of cross country rail and grand public works. For more on its history, visit Oakland Wiki.

We’ll be led by Oakland Urban Paths tour leader and author of Legendary Locals of Oakland, Gene Anderson. Attendees will be guided around all the major areas of the station, including the main hall, baggage wing, and station platforms. The tour will continue with a short guided walk of the immediate West Oakland area, including murals, urban farms, and locations significant to the original Black Panther Party. The walk will conclude at noon by 10th and Wood, a locally owned cafe and restaurant.

All proceeds will benefit our work supporting our slate of 2016 endorsees. Read more.
